Our New Home: The Chopin Theatre
A few of us drove down to Wicker Park earlier this week to check out our new digs at the Chopin Theatre.
Time Out Chicago recently selected the Chopin as their Critic’s Pick for Best Venue:
One of the last old-school entertainment venues in Wicker Park, this theater houses some of Chicago’s best storefront companies.
The House is jazzed about performing at the Chopin, which the Tribune calls, "a community asset of the first order," not only because it offers more seating (and air conditioning) for our guests, but because owners Zygmunt Dyrkacz (who saved the building from demolition in 1990) and Lela Headd have gone out of their to make the whole place feel like an old-school lounge.
We like the Chopin because, unlike some theaters which have all the comfort of a doctor’s office waiting room, the space invites conversation. We’d love for our audience to stay after the show, have a drink, talk to the actors, hang out.
You can learn more about the history of the Chopin on their website or check out this Wikipedia article.
Check out a map of the area, find nearby businesses and read customer reviews about the Chopin on their Yelp profile. Give them a glowing review while you’re there!
Dave DaVinci Saves the Universe opens at the Chopin Theatre September 18 and runs until November 8, 2008.
