You Know You’re In GIRLS VS BOYS When…
Reed Wilson (Krueger) and Will Skrip (George) are cast members of GIRLS VS BOYS at Northwestern this summer. They have loved their experience working with Nate, Chris Mathews, Jake Minton, Tommy Rapley, and Kevin O’Donnell, and wanted to share a little about what it was like to be a part of GvB this summer……
You Know You’re In GIRLS VS BOYS When…
1. You use the word “build” instead of “block” to stage your show
2. You’ve seen Nate in the stupidest hat imaginable a la Gilligan from Gilligan’s Island
3. You sing with shape, straight tone, and nasal quality with excellent intonation
4. You’ve been to A-Town (not Atlanta…think the Big A) and back but you know it’s not what matters
5. You’ve rocked out with Jersey Boys, Mary Poppins, and Young Frankenstein at the Taste
6. You’ve eaten enough Dum-Dums to get THREE frisbees
7. You are FIERCE and know how to walk like Tyra
8. You love circles
9. You’re into rock shows that tell stories
10. You like watching the show as much as the audience does
11. You love getting the game ball
12. You know the gun isn’t there
13. You think in metaphor, speak in verse, and move in flocks
14. You love the House
15. You do it in the pit
16. You breathe
This list could go on, but I think you get the idea. We’re all so lucky to have been a part of this process, and we’re all eternally grateful to the House, the American Music Theatre Project, Northwestern, and every single audience member, young and old, that decided to be a part of our community for a few short hours. We hope that the story spoke to you as much as it spoke to us, and we hope that you’ll all love together, bleed together, heal together, and play it again!
Love,
Reed and Will
PS It would be so awesome to see a response to this blog entitled “You know you’re an audience member at Girls vs Boys when…” Who’s up for it?!
GIRLS VS BOYS runs one more weekend, until August 2 at Northwestern University’s Wallis Theatre this summer. Get in and see it now!

I enjoyed reading this blog. It has been great working with all of you talented students, along with the House staff and AMTP folks. Can’t wait to rock out the last 5 shows this weekend!
You know you’re an audience member at Girls vs. Boys when…
1. You are dancing in your seat…and that’s okay
2. You realize your wardrobe is drab and conservative, and have a sneaking suspicion you could have pulled off those bunny ears
3. You know you will probably find an errant rose petal in your hair/bag/shirt later
4. Your cheeks are damp, but you blame the rain machine
5. You are compelled to use a double negative – there’s nothing you can’t do on stage
6. You want a lollipop – and are unsure if the want is literal or metaphorical
7. You know you will be back to see Girls vs. Boys again
Loved the show and will definitely be back to see it again this weekend!
You know you’re an audience member at Girls vs. Boys when…
1. You experience high school, infatuation, lust, love, sex, depression, drugs, alcohol, pregnancy, severe guilt, loathing, denial, homosexuality, rebellion, desperation, bodily mutilation, and betrayal for the first time ever… and all within a less-than-3-hour span;
2. The lollipop gang gets you slightly aroused;
3. You double check your program to verify the musical is not starring the Joker;
4. Every time you hear the word “love,” you cringe;
5. You hear plenty of cell phones going off during the performance;
6. You rub elbows with one/some of the cast members during a scene;
7. You love King George and it kills you;
8. You acquire an unexplainable desire to fuck;
9. The emotionally charged scenes provoke you to tears despite your efforts to stop/hide them;
10. Your makeup is streaming down your face from crying, but the person next to you just thinks you’re another cast member;
11. You wore your trashiest outfit and you still look like a saint (in comparison);
12. You cannot bring yourself to let go… so, you come back to see it again!!!
I still want a t-shirt!!! See you tonight… I know it will be even better than Thursday!!!!
